It was all quite exciting to have the production here. There were filming around the Don CeSar Hotel from March 1 - 12 (1999). There were only a couple of days of bad weather, but it was sunny and in the mid-60's - 70's most of the time. ![]() The first week they filmed behind the hotel and at a beach bar north of the Don. Most of the second week was spent shooting at night behind the hotel. Two small structures were built on the south side of the hotel as a set; they appeared to be part of a beach cottage. I took a half day vacation off from work on Tuesday, March 2 to go down the Don CeSar Hotel to watch them filming "Forever Mine." I arrived at the Don about 1:45 and headed right for the beach. Joe Fiennes was in the midst of filming a scene. He was dressed as a beach resort employee, with red shorts, white polo shirt, and white slip-on canvas shoes; he was carrying a small clip board. ![]() The scene began as he looked toward the gulf, turned and walked towards another resort employee, said a few words to him, and then walked away. Joe filmed this scene again several times. Between takes, a crew member would bring an umbrella for Joe to avoid sunburn as it was a very sunny afternoon. The filming area was roped off, but the crowd watching was able to stand very close to the action, anywhere from 15 - 20 feet away. ![]() The only other scene that day was one with Joe, Gretchen Mol and Ray Liotta. Ray and Gretchen sat together in a beach chair for two. They went through a rehearsal first. The scene went like this: Ray and Gretchen are guests at the hotel and are relaxing on the beach. Ray needs to make a phone call, so Joe brings over a telephone (this was before cell phones). While Ray's on the phone, Gretchen rubs suntan lotion on Ray's back. Ray protests that she's putting on too much. Joe stays in the vicinity and Ray asks him if there's a disco at the hotel. ![]() ![]()
